My girls are in their teens now, but after becoming a new mom years ago I struggled—emotionally, physically.
I lost myself in mothering by putting my kids' needs above mine. While I loved being a mom, feelings of exhaustion and overwhelm became my new normal. I had horrible eating habits and I was out of shape. While I knew fitness would help me feel better, I didn't have the focus or energy to take good care of myself—so I stayed stuck in my rut a lot longer than I should have.
Eventually I decided to hire a personal trainer.
